ACCESS COVID-19 SUPPORT:
10+ HOURS OF FREE WEBINARS BY REMIX
Like many organisations, REMIX has been impacted by the unfolding COVID-19 crisis and we have developed REMIX Academy to provide a new digital learning repository for the creative industries by taking REMIX talks online. Whilst our own events have been disrupted, we also recognise that the creative sector we exist to serve is having an incredibly tough time right now.
We have worked night and day with the generous support of the City of Perth to produce a special series of free, in-depth webinars hosted by REMIX Co-founder Peter Tullin. We hope to help support arts, culture and heritage organisations and creatives through these extremely challenging and unchartered times.
As physical experiences have been cancelled globally, arts and cultural organisations both large and small are fighting for survival. Whilst juggling very serious challenges, many are having to explore new technologies, design virtual experiences, find possible new income sources and keep audiences engaged remotely.
Our webinars summarise some of the key trends and step-by-step guides to these issues: from bootstrapping new creative enterprises on little to no money; to digital business models and monetising content; to utilising low-cost technologies; to rethinking the user experience from the ground up; to name a few. We also hope to add more soon.

Hear from Over 950 Leading Creative Thinkers
Hundreds of the best minds from across arts and culture, technology and entrepreneurship share lessons from their experience - from the creator of Glastonbury to the CEO of Burning Man. Subjects include experience design, storytelling, marketing, placemaking, leadership, digital content, income generation, arts/tech, sustainability and many more.

And many more - with new updates from our latest Summits added regularly!

From Idea to Reality

Exploring the future of culture, Creative cities and the Creative Economy
Featured topics include (click to read more):
Cultural Organisations Reimagined
If we stripped away all our preconceptions, what could the cultural institutions of tomorrow look like? What does it mean to fully embrace new content formats, distribution platforms and audience tastes? Which technologies, experiences and models can creative leaders imagine in response to the demand for a reinvigorated public commons: communal, free and universally accessible spaces fit to address the unique challenges we face in education and society?
Talks that showcase innovative examples in which organisations and creative entrepreneurs have harnessed the changing landscape to reimagine how they serve cultural content and experiences for today's citizens.
The New Creative Consumers
These talks explore how users are consuming content and experiences in radically different ways to what has gone before. Responding to technological innovations, consumer behaviours and expectations are rapidly evolving - and engagement with the creative and culture sectors are no exception.
In this new context, how can we package the content assets of cultural and creative organisations in new, lateral ways to reach new audiences and those who do not traditionally engage with cultural content? These talks explore innovative approaches to tailoring the messaging and medium to create new forms of engagement, and consider the new expectations of our audiences.
Digital Culture
A wide breadth of talks aiming to capture first-class examples of how digital innovation is impacting creative experiences and content, from ease of use, to widening participation, to enabling experiences beyond the physical constraints. What opportunities exist for digital extensions of physical content and experiences? For deeper or different engagement with audiences? What are the latest digital technologies, platforms and trends, and how are they being utilised for to the creative content and experiences we offer?
New Leadership Models
CEO's and senior leaders reflect on lessons learnt from their experience of leading major organisations through new social, technological and economic change. What makes a good leader? How is leadership evolving? How do you support, empower and motivate staff members through periods of deep-seated change?
Creativity, Learning and Play
Governments around the world are predicting that the economy of the future will be supported by huge numbers of creative jobs, with creativity (alongside data) described as the 'new oil'. Since creativity is in the DNA of the cultural sectors, what is our evolving role in the context of the Innovation Economy to unleashing the creative potential of individuals from cradle to grave? How does the latest thinking around STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) and the role of creative play impact our approach to education?
Placemaking & Creative Infrastructure
How can the infrastructure of our cities better support creative innovation and disruptive new ideas? How do we better engineer cities with a thriving creative scene? How do we join the dots between different parts of the city to facilitate new types of partnerships that could lead to new innovations? What roles do the latest placemaking strategies have in creative city development? These talks explore the opportunities and challenges of nurturing creativity within a city environment - the places, support structures and platforms necessary to create a thriving creative ecosystem.
The Future of Work
How do we develop organisations and approaches to work that are fit for facing future challenges? Whether physical environments, motivating talent or harnessing ideas, how can we properly embrace intrapreneurship, manage innovation and encourage a healthier balance between productivity and happiness? In an age of under- and unemployment, portfolio careers plus zero-hours or gig-economy contracts, what are emerging ways in which to think about the nature of work itself?
Creative Collisions
New combinations of ideas, approaches and talent often spark unique new innovations. How are different disciplines and industries – including arts and culture, technology, enterprise, science, education, creative industries and public policy – colliding in new forms to result in these ideas and innovations, and what can we do to encourage more opportunities for productive collisions between specialists?
Consumer Trends
What are people thinking, what do they say they are doing, and what are they actually doing and why? How are these trends changing over time and how do they differ depending on who you talk to? These consumer trend talks introduce key opportunities and challenges in the wider contexts in which we operate as creative organisations, and invite us to design innovative responses.
Future of Cultural Tourism
Exploring opportunities to put the cultural and creative industries front and centre stage for visitors and residents alike. Travel is changing. Tourists increasingly tire of overcrowded hotspots and yearn for the authentic local experience and road untravelled, whilst popular destinations struggle to balance the often-conflicting demands of locals and travellers. In these talks we consider some of the latest developments in cultural tourism, identifying examples of best practice as well as the opportunities and challenges for marketing as a creative destination.
The Experience Economy
Authentic and unique experiences have the power to make deep connections with people, with some remembered for a lifetime and creating a story that has to be shared. These talks explore trends and best practice across wide fields of experience design, from immersive theatre and exhibitions to retail environments. Moreover, with the traditional high street facing deep and systemic challenges, leisure experiences have been heralded as a key opportunity to help transform former retail environments and animate inner cities. Creative enterprises such as Two Bit Circus and Meow Wolf have managed to combine creative experiences with scalable and sustainable models. How have they and others built large, engaged communities and developed new forms of creative participation? What can we learn from these dynamic new business models and innovative re-use of redundant spaces?
Immersive & Interactive Storytelling
There are a myriad of new creative technologies, tools and formats now at our disposal – ranging from Mixed and Virtual Reality through to Podcasts and TikTok videos – that change the way we create, tell and share stories. With storytelling at the heart of the creative sector, what does this mean for us and how to we respond to these rapidly evolving creative technologies, distribution platforms and formats? How do we blur real-life and digital, and in the context of sensory over-stimulation, where should the boundaries fall?
Internal Innovation & Intrapreneurship
Many companies struggle to get the right balance between structured efficiency and entrepreneurial flexibility. Publicly-funded organisations often feel an extra pressure to spend every penny wisely and this can sometimes impact speed of response or their ability to seize new opportunities. True innovation and transformative ideas come through taking calculated risks and allowing for failure. These talks explore how to do this responsibly and effectively, and highlight some of the best strategies for ideation, surfacing and responding to ideas, and balancing implementing new innovations with maintaining an existing offer and services.
Arts-Led Change: The Ripple Effect
What successful strategies are being used to engage the hard-to-reach; unite communities and drive arts-led regeneration as well as positioning artists at the forefront of social change? How can the infrastructure of our towns and cities better support such creative innovation and disruptive new ideas? How do we join the dots between different parts of the creative industries including technology to facilitate new types of partnerships that could lead to new innovation? Talks exploring the opportunities and challenges of nurturing civic and creative entrepreneurs with input from a range of experts from inside and outside the creative industries.
Sustainability & Ethics
A climate emergency has been declared by 1,400 local governments in 28 countries. How can the cultural sector play a role in mitigating climate change both in terms of being more sustainable ourselves and helping others to become so? How can creatives help shape the public discourse in this area, and consider some of the direct ethical implications? More widely, what are the key ethical considerations for creative organisations and practitioners? How do we balance an important social and educational role with the need to generate income? What lessons can models from other fields including social enterprise and community work provide for creative, purpose-driven enterprises?
